Hydrogen Jobs Plan
Location: Whyalla, South Australia
Client: ATCO Australia (ATCO)
Start date: 2024
Completion date: 2025
The South Australian Government selected ATCO as one of its preferred partners to progress development of the world’s largest hydrogen power plant at Whyalla in the upper Spencer Golf in South Australia. The 200MW green hydrogen power plant was proposed to use excess renewable energy generated from large-scale wind and solar farms to convert water into hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas could then be used to run turbines and sustainably generate electricity. The Whyalla Hydrogen plant was targeting to unlock a new source of flexible power for South Australia, providing additional grid stability and a consistent output of supply for homes and businesses.
Bellgrove Advisory provided commercial and transaction advisory services to ATCO throughout the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase. Bellgrove Advisory’s primary role involved supporting the development and negotiation of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) agreements with the South Australian Government for the project.
